Missa Unitatis (2016-2018)
De Missa Unitatis van Antony Pitts tourde in 2016 onder leiding van Stephen Layton langs acht steden in Nederland en België. Cappella Pratensis en Nederlands Kamerkoor ontmoette in iedere stad een ander amateurkoor dat verschillende werken tussen de misdelen in zong. Naast de algehele tournee coördinatie en het maken van de opstellingen en regie van de koren, was ik verantwoordelijk voor de productie van de cd van dit project.

The Missa Unitatis is all about finding and sometimes struggling to find common understanding on what may be very divisive subject-matter. By hearing the Mass surrounded and interspersed by your own diverse and colourful contributions this theme of potential underlying unity is underlined, and in each setting given a new and special interpretation. Choral music, to me, can be a taste of heaven, or at least the striving after heaven: partly because it involves our most intimate faculties of communication, and partly because it allows humans to live and act in harmony in a very literal way (even if only for a fleeting moment). I hope you will get much from participating in this unique concert series and I'm very honoured to be part of it. Antony Pitts
